Arran (Peat & Sherry) 2015 – Cask Share #093

By purchasing a cask share in this Arran Peated på 20 PPM (Lochranza), which is aged in a 2nd Fill PX Sherry Octave cask (cask share #093), will give you two (2) bottles of whisky when bottled. We expect it to store until November 2024, where it will be 9 years old, and has then gained a sherry influence for approx. 15 months.

The whisky originally comes from a 1st Fill Ex. Bourbon Barrel, which has also been sold as cask shares (cask share #015). In August 2023, we chose to pour part of the cask on this Octave cask, at this time the ABV was 60.1%. The cask has previously been used for our Glenrothes, who got 12 months on this cask before it was bottled at 11 years old.

If this cask share with Arran Peated & Sherry is aged until the expected time, the whisky will be 9 years old at bottling time and will be bottled unfiltered and we expect the ABV will be 56.1% at this time. Should a sample along the way indicate that the cask is to be bottled sooner or later, the cask share owners will be informed accordingly.

The Arran Distillery opened in 1995 after a 2-year delay when a eagle family decided to settle on the construction site.Since the release of the first whisky in 1998, the Islay of Arran has inspired several similar projects elsewhere in Scotland. The inspiration for a new distillery came after a lecture by the Arran Society in 1992.Industrial veteran Harold Currie, retired director of Chivas, organized a plan in which 2000 shares were sold in exchange for whisky from the new distillery, as an additional tourist attraction and now also has a shop as well as a restaurant with excellent cuisine. The characteristics of the distillery are creamy and ideal for dessert. In 2017 started construction for Islay of Arran’s 2nd distillery on the south-west side of the island.
