Lowland Single Malt (Sherry HHd) 2013 – Cask Share #098

By purchasing a cask share in this Lowland Single Malt Oloroso Sherry Hogshead from 2013 (share cask #098), when the cask is bottled in 2027, you will receive 2 bottles of 14 year old whisky bottled at cask strength.

Due to rights, we are not allowed to write the name of the distillery, but we can give a few hints as to which distillery we are talking about here. The brothers who built the distillery started production in 1825, and in 1837, the then owners built a larger distillery on the same site. In 1853, the distillery went bankrupt, and the distillery was converted into a sawmill. It wasn’t until 1881, when some investors from Edinburgh bought it, that they reopened the distillery. Since 1997, the distillery has been owned by Diageo, and today (2024), they produce around 2.5 million liters of pure alcohol per year. In 2007, a 12 and a 20-year bottling from the distillery at cask strength was released for the first time. The distillery itself is located east of the capital of Scotland, and they use the water from the “Lammermuir Hills Spring” for their production.

We expect this Cask Share cask Lowland Single Malt Oloroso Sherry Hogshead from 2013 (cask share 098) to age until the end of October 2027, when the whisky will be 14 years old. The bottling takes place immediately after the cask has reached 14 years, unless we in the tasting panel judge that the cask should be bottled before or possibly postponed to a later date.

If the cask is bottled when the whisky is 14 years old (on 29.10.2027), we expect there to be approx. 300 bottles of 70cl from the cask at a cask strength of approx. 56% – the cask will be bottled unfiltered and without the addition of colour. However, we only put 130 shares for sale in this cask, as we save a little for the store and as extra security.

Should a cask sample indicate that the cask must be bottled sooner or later, the co-owners will be informed of this. If you want to see the status of the other casks in which we sell cask shares, you can see the status of active cooperative casks here.
