Claxton’s has bottled this 13-year-old Linkwood STR Barrique in their Warehouse no 1, at a cask strength of 54.6%. The bottling is in the 7th series of these warehouse no 1 releases that Claxton’s has released.

All bottlings in Claxton’s warehouse No 1 and No 8 series are bottled in the well-known “flat” bottle type used by Claxton – and which goes by the name “Jens Bottle”.

What is a STR cask? It is a cask that has been shaved, toasted, re-charred (inside). A cask style developed and optimized for spirit maturation by the late Dr. Jim Swan. STR casks were invented out of the need for more wood/casks for Single Malt Whisky production and an abundance of wine casks throughout Europe and America, which in this way are recycled.
