With a cask share (#106) in this Blair Athol Refill PX Sherry Hogshead from 2015, you secure two full bottles, bottled at natural cask strength, when the whisky is scheduled to be released in 2027 as a 12-year-old.

The whisky began its journey in a classic Refill Hogshead, but in January 2024 we transferred it into a Refill PX Sherry Hogshead. This decision followed a tasting by our panel, where a cask sample at 61.9% showed good character but clear potential for even greater depth. The sherry cask provided the perfect environment to develop the richer, sweeter, and more complex notes we are aiming for.

At the time of transfer, the strength was 59.4%. In August 2025, after around 12 months in the PX cask, we sampled it again, and the strength had fallen slightly to 59.1%. The difference was remarkable – even after just a year, the whisky had gained depth, roundness, and a pronounced sherry influence that promises exciting things for the years ahead.

If everything goes according to plan, the cask will yield around 230 bottles in 2027 at a natural cask strength of 57–58%. This corresponds to 115 shares. However, we are releasing only 85 shares for sale to ensure that all shareholders receive their bottles – while keeping a smaller number reserved for our web-shop later on.

By purchasing a cask share, you’re not just buying whisky – you’re becoming part of the cask’s story. You can follow the progress of this Blair Athol cask, along with our other active casks, through our online overview. And if you’re unsure which cask share is right for you, you’re always welcome to contact us by email or phone.

Note: We have ordered a fresh cask sample. As soon as it arrives, it will be possible to order a 3 cl sample from this cask directly through the shop..

Blair Athol PX Sherry Cask Share #106

Cask sample from: 29-01-2025
Nose: The nose shows rich sherry with floral tones and honey, lifted by mandarin. Dried figs and roasted hazelnuts add depth, while soft custard and cereal notes complete the aroma
Palate: On the palate, sherry is joined by sea salt, honey, mandarin, and green citrus. Dried figs and dark chocolate add depth, while herbs, malt, and a touch of leather complete the profile
Finish: The finish is relatively long, with lingering notes of sherry and mandarin, followed by rich dark chocolate, herbal nuances, malty depth, and a gentle touch of leather
  • The price stated on the cask shares, is per cask share and is for the alcohol in each cask share
  • The size of each cask share, is stated for each unit under “Bottles per share”
If a larger share of the casks is wanted, offers for this can be made after contacting Fadandel.dk
  • The certificate of the cask share is sent together with your purchase invoice and together is the proof of your purchase
The certificate is personal and therefore cannot be transferred to a third party, without prior agreement with Fadandel.dk
  • When the bottles from the individual cask are on their way home to Denmark, the co-owners will be sent an invoice on import fee that are stated on the cask share
  • The bottle size is set at 70cl standard round bottles, unless otherwise stated on the individual casks share. And always bottled at cask strength
  • All bottles in the cask are affixed with Fadandel’s label, unless otherwise agreed in advance
  • After the cask has been bottled and the bottles have arrived in Denmark, the co-operatives will be contacted for the collection of the bottles
  • If the bottles in your share are to be shipped to you, you will be charged for the shipping

  • Should unforeseen expenses be incurred in connection with the return of the share bottles, this price will be regulated, as we cannot foresee the possible costs changes, that may come in the future on alcohol imports
  • Cask samples, Fadandel.dk will periodically (about every 2 years) take a sample from each cask
These cask samples are taken in part to follow the development of the cask/whisky, and for customers can buy a sample on the web shop and in our store
  • Cask tastings, Fadandel.dk holds tastings, where you can taste several different cask samples on the same evening – these are announced on our shop under upcoming tastings, our Facebook page and via our newsletter (in Danish), which you can sign up at the bottom of this page ” SUBSCRIBE TO NEWSLETTER”
