Cambus (Refill HHd) 1990 – Cask Share #097

By purchasing a cask share in this Cambus Refill Hogshead (share #097) from 1990, when the cask is bottled in 2025, you will receive 2 bottles at cask strength which is 35 years old. The Cambus distillery closed down in 1993, so here’s the chance to buy a cask share in a cask that may not come any more of.

We describe the latest cask sample (January 3, 2024) from Cambus 1990 (cask lot #097) as; Very slow thin curtains in the glass, which gather into small slow drops that slide down the glass. At the same time, a creamy and pleasant scent emerges.

We expect this Cambus cask from 1990 to age until the beginning of October 2025, when the whisky will then be 35 years old. The bottling takes place immediately after the cask has reached 35 years unless we in the tasting panel judge that the cask should be bottled before or possibly postponed to a later date.

If the cask is bottled when the whisky is 35 years old (on 01.10.2025), we expect that there will be approx. 200 bottles of 70cl from the cask at a cask strength of approx. 44.3% – the cask will be bottled unfiltered and without the addition of colour. However, we only put 90 shares for sale in this Cambus cask, as we save a little for the store and as extra security.

Should a cask sample indicate that the cask must be bottled sooner or later, the co-owners will be informed of this. If you want to see the status of the other casks in which we sell cask shares, you can see the status of active cask share casks here.

The Cambus distillery started back in 1806, and has been shut down several times, but finally stopped production in 1993. Today, the land and the buildings are used by their current owners, Diageo, for cask restoration and cask aging for Diageo.
