Grain Barn 30Y (batch 1) – 48%
Grain Barn is a new “brand” from Claxton’s – Single Grain bottlings in small batches. The whisky is bottled in a luxury bottle that reveals the beauty of these long-lasting Single Grain Whiskys.
This first edition is 30 years old, and has matured on very expressive, and influential former bourbon casks. It comes from a Grain distillery in the Highlands, which is still producing at full power – approx. 36,000,000 Mill. Liters of Newmake per year
The aging of this whisky has resulted in a very expressive, rich, chic old Grain whisky, which is soft and pleasant.
Claxton’s write:
Single Grain Scotch Whisky is often overshadowed by its more famous malt whisky counterpart. However, at Claxton’s we know that mature grain whisky, aged in the best oak casks produces a captivating dram.
Matured and bottled at Claxton’s, this 30-year-old single grain whisky has benefitted from traditional style warehousing in the former grain stores of Sandbed Farm on the Dalswinton Estate.
The Grain Barn name represents the heritage of grain production in the lowlands of Scotland. This bottling puts grain whisky in the limelight and is an opportunity to experience a remarkable dram an under-recognised source.
This Grain Barn from Claxton’s is part of their Core Range series – See the Core Range bottlings we have in stock here.
